Batched cocktails still need dilution that you'd normally get from shaking or stirring with ice. For stirred drinks, add roughly 20โ€“25% water to the batch (shown above) and chill well; serve over fresh ice. Taste and adjust before the guests arrive.

How to batch a cocktail

Batching is just multiplication: take a single-serve recipe and multiply every ingredient by the number of drinks. The one thing that doesn't scale from the recipe is dilution โ€” individually shaken or stirred drinks pick up water from the ice, so a pre-mixed batch tastes sharp unless you add water (about a quarter of the volume) to mimic it.

Parts work too: if your recipe is in "parts," treat 1 part as any unit and the totals scale the same way.
